Reiki & Chronic Pain Treatment at VFMC

Reiki is a Tibetan form of Japanese healing that was rediscovered in the middle of the 19th century by a theologian named Dr. Mikao Usui.

Reiki is a Japanese word for “Universal Life Energy”.

It is an ancient energy system utilizing the placement of hands to channel Universal Energy to help affect the mind, body and spirit of an individual.

Reiki can be performed with a recipient fully-clothed lying on a bed or massage table. At VFMC, hands are placed a few inches away from the body and beamed. This is helpful when a person is in severe pain.

Most recipients report an overwhelming feeling of calmness, peace, warmth or reduction in pain or anxiety during and after a treatment. Some recipients report sensations of coolness, tingling, pins and needles, and/or magnetic pulls.

30 minute treatments are offered to the Chronic Pain Management patients at Valley Forge Medical Center.

A trained and certified Reiki practitioner administers the treatments and picks up information regarding the patient's physical, emotional and/or spiritual health via their intuitive skills that may assist the recipients on their journey back to wholeness.
